Terms of service

Last updated 4 September 2026

These are the terms for using AppClearance. They are an agreement between you and BOTGHOST PTY LTD, an Australian company, which operates the service. Using the site or the app means you accept them.

The service

AppClearance publishes guides about Apple's App Store Review Guidelines and provides a tool that reads your App Store Connect account and reports the things that commonly cause rejection. It also hosts a small set of pages for your app (landing, privacy, support, terms) if you want them. The service is provided as-is.

No guarantee of approval

App Review decisions are Apple's alone. A clean check here does not mean your app will be approved, and a finding here does not mean it will be rejected. Some of Apple's guidelines are judgement calls and Apple applies them inconsistently, and we say so throughout the product rather than pretending otherwise. Nothing on this site is legal advice. Apple's published guidelines are the authoritative source; we verify against them and date every guide, but if the two ever disagree, Apple is right and we are wrong.

Your account

You need to be able to enter a binding contract, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account. Sharing sign-in details with people outside your organisation is not permitted.

Your credentials

You are responsible for the App Store Connect API keys you create and connect, and you may only connect accounts you are authorised to access. We recommend the least-privileged role that works. We only ever read: this service makes no write calls to App Store Connect. You can disconnect a key here, or revoke it in App Store Connect, at any time, and revoking it in Apple's console is the stronger of the two, so do that if you have any doubt.

What it costs

Running a check is free, and so is the summary of the result. A subscription is $29 per month, flat, covering one app. There are no credits, no usage metering and no overage charges. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are, which Stripe adds at checkout.

Billing and renewal

Payment is taken by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically each month on the date you started it, at the price then published, until you cancel. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it for a short period and your access continues while it does; if it ultimately fails, the subscription ends and the account returns to the free plan.

If we change the price, existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email before it applies to them, and cancelling before it takes effect costs nothing.

Cancelling

Cancel at any time from Account. The button there opens Stripe's billing portal, where cancelling takes one click: no email, and nobody to talk to first. Cancelling stops the next payment; your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and that date is shown on your account page.

Refunds

We do not refund partial months by default; cancelling leaves you with the access you paid for until the period ends. But if the product got something materially wrong, charged you when you did not expect it, or simply did not do what this site said it would, email [email protected] and we will refund you. We would rather do that than have the argument. Statutory rights sit on top of this and nothing here reduces them; the Australian Consumer Law if you are in Australia, and your local cancellation rights if you are a consumer in the UK or EU.

Hosted pages

If you publish pages with us, the content is yours. You are responsible for it being accurate and lawful, and it is published publicly at the address you choose.

Hosting is part of the subscription, so it ends when the subscription does. When your subscription ends we stop serving your pages and every address for them redirects to our homepage. We keep what you wrote, so paying again brings the same pages back at the same address with nothing to rebuild.

Plan for that before you cancel: if your App Store listing points its privacy policy or support URL at pages hosted here, move those URLs somewhere you control first, or Apple will find our homepage where your policy used to be.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to abuse, overload, scrape or reverse the service. Don't connect accounts you do not have permission to access. Don't use the service to break the law or Apple's own agreements. We run reasonable rate limits to protect the service and Apple's API, and heavy automated use may be limited even though the plan is flat.

Our content

The guides, checks and the wording of findings are ours. Read them, use them for your own apps, quote them with a link. Don't republish them wholesale or use them to build a competing check service.

Availability and changes

We do not promise uninterrupted service. Parts of it depend on Apple's API, which goes down and changes without notice, and on Apple's rules, which change more often than that. We may change or remove features; if we remove something you are paying for, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk, and will say why. You can close yours at any time; see the privacy policy for what happens to your data when you do.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for lost revenue, a missed launch date, or a rejection. A rejection is Apple's decision, taken for reasons we do not control and cannot always see.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death, personal injury, or fraud. In particular, nothing in these terms excludes or restricts the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law; where those guarantees apply and the law allows us to limit our liability for breaching them, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or refunding what you paid for it.

Changes to these terms

If we change them in a way that affects subscribers, we will email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change; if you would rather not, you can cancel.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws where you live.

Independence

AppClearance is an independent service, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple. Apple, App Store and App Store Connect are trademarks of Apple Inc.
